Sports Massage
Who is it for?
There are a variety of people who would choose to have Sports Massage: The Athlete, The Physically Active, The Office Worker, The Health Conscious, The Injured, and the list goes on. Sports Massage is not just for the sports professional, this treatment will help you to recover from injuries and persistent muscular aches and pains, as well as helping to re-balance the system which often becomes un-balanced due to muscular tightening.
Muscle Stress
Stress and strain to muscle caused not just by elite training and active lifestyles but also by habitual movement patterns e.g. sitting for long periods at a computer, will cause muscle fibres to tighten and stick together creating adhesions (knots) within the muscle leading to aches, pains and fatigue. This will lead to decreased circulation and hence decreased function. When left untreated the body has an amazing ability to adapt, but by ignoring these symptoms this decreased function within the muscle can cause fatigue, injury, neuromuscular stress, joint pain, headaches, back pain, and the list goes on, hence leaving you with a body that is not functioning at its best.
Soft Tissue Treatment
After an initial consultation to discuss any posing problems, your general health and your needs, Sports massage then uses specialist techniques e.g soft tissue release (STR), muscle energy technique (MET), neuromuscular technique (NMT), to loosen, stretch and re-align stressed muscle fibres to restore the muscle to optimum function. There is also aftercare advice with rehabilitation exercise if required to help maximise the benefits of your treatment.
